Red Rising
Darrow, a Red miner transformed into a Gold, infiltrates the elite Institute to avenge his wife's death and overthrow the oppressive Gold caste that rules Mars and the solar system.
Overview
Darrow, a Red miner on Mars, is driven to avenge his wife Eo's execution by the oppressive Gold caste, who rule the planet and the solar system. After being rescued and transformed into a Gold by the resistance group Sons of Ares, Darrow infiltrates the elite Institute, a brutal training ground for future leaders. There, he navigates a treacherous world of alliances and betrayals, all while hiding his true identity and fighting to bring down the corrupt system from within.
As Darrow rises through the ranks, he faces increasingly difficult moral choices and the harsh realities of the Golds' ruthless society. He forms uneasy alliances with his fellow students, including the charismatic Cassius and the fierce Mustang, and leads a rebellion against the tyrannical Primus Titus. Darrow's journey is marked by personal loss, strategic cunning, and a growing resolve to challenge the entrenched power structures that have kept his people subjugated for generations.
In the final conflict, Darrow and his allies launch a daring assault on Mount Olympus, the heart of the Golds' power, where he confronts the Jackal, a key figure in the Society's hierarchy. Despite the high stakes and the revelation of Mustang's connection to the Jackal, Darrow remains determined to bring about a new order, even if it means making difficult sacrifices and forging uneasy alliances with former enemies.
